Bitumen emulsion is a liquid product in which bitumen is suspended in a finely divided condition in an aqueous medium & stabilised. The bitumen content in the emulsion is 60%. When this emulsion is applied to the roads, it breaks downs & releases water so the emulsion starts to set. Bitumen emulsions are ideal for hill road construction where heating is difficult.
