A. BITUMEN ( PENETRATION GRADE ) : 80/100 ; 60/70 ; 10/20 ; 30/40

GENERAL DEFINATION OF PENETRATION BITUMEN GRADE 80/100

Bitumen Penetration Grade 80/100 is a standard penetration grade Bitumen usually used as a Paving Grade Bitumen suitable for road construction and for the production of asphalt pavements with superior properties. This grade of Bitumen is mainly used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses. Penetration Grade Bitumen is petroleum grade bitumen, manufactured from fractional / vacuum distillation of crude oil. The Bitumen is produced from vacuum residue (short residue) feed stock. Penetration Grade bitumen are specified by the penetration and softening point test. Designation is by penetration range only. The penetration grade bitumen have a thermoplastic property which causes the material to soften at high temperatures and to harden at lower temperatures. This unique temperature/ viscosity relationship is important when determining the performance parameters such as the adhesion, rheology, durability and application temperatures of bitumen.

GENERAL DEFINATION OF PENETRATION BITUMEN GRADE 60/70

A grade of 60/70 bitumen means the penetration value is in the range 60 to 70 at standard test conditions which usually used as a Paving Grade. Bitumen 60/70 is applicable for the production of asphalt pavements with superior properties and for construction and maintenance of roads. Also this grade of bitumen is mainly used in the spraying and chip applications. Penetration Grade Bitumen is petroleum grade bitumen, produced from fractional distillation of crude oil and vacuum residue (short residue) feedstock. Bitumen is specified by the penetration and softening point test. Designing is by penetration range only. GENERAL DEFINATION OF PENETRATION BITUMEN GRADE 10/20

It is a kind of hard penetration grade bitumen which is provided during the process of oxidation of vacuum bottom the bitumen  production  that  drives  from  distillation  tower  residue  in  vacuum   oil   refineries   at bitumen production unit. Bitumen penetration grade 10/20 ensures long-term savings because it allows for a thinner pavement design, which uses up to 30% less asphalt than traditional designs while ensuring extended pavement life. Its penetration is hard grade and softening between 10 to 20. The Bitumen 10/20 is hard penetration grade bitumen using as paving grade bitumen suitable for road construction and repair also for the production of asphalt pavements with the below technical specification. This grade of bitumen is mainly used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses.

GENERAL DEFINATION OF PRNETRATION GRADE BITUMEN 30/40

It is a kind of bitumen and standard penetration grade. This type is petroleum grade bitumen, manufactured from fractional- vacuum destination of crude oil. The bitumen penetration grade 30/40 is produced from the vacuum residue (short residue) feedstock. Penetration grade bitumen are specified by the penetration and softening point test. Designation by penetration range only. The penetration grade bitumen has a thermoplastic property which causes the material to soften at high temperatures and to harden at low temperatures.

The Bitumen mode is dependent on temperature. The temperature-vs-stiffness relationship of bitumen is dependent on the type of crude oil and its refining method. Bitumen penetration grade 30/40 is semi-hard penetration grade bitumen used as paving grade bitumen which is suitable for road construction and repair. It is also used for the production of asphalt pavements with the below technical specification. This grade of bitumen is mainly used in the manufacturing of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses.

Penetration determines the hardness of bitumen by measuring the depth to which a standard loaded the needle will vertically penetrate in 5 seconds, in a sample of bitumen maintained at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.

B.BITUMEN ( VISCOCITY GRADE ): VG-10 ; VG-30 ; VG-40

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF VISCOSITY GRADE BITUMEN

Viscosity Grade Bitumen (Asphalt) is a Bitumen grade mostly used as a Paving Grade and it’s suitable for road construction and for the asphalt pavements producing with premier attributes. VG Bitumen is usually used in the production of hot mix asphalt.

Viscosity Grade Bitumen is petroleum grade bitumen, which produced from fractional vacuum bottom which comes from distillation of crude oil, which feasible appliance and behavior changes according to its temperature.

Viscosity Grade bitumen is specified by ASTM Standard D3381-09 and AASHTO M226-80 (2008). VG Bitumen specifications cover by Viscosity at 60 ̊C (140 °F).

VISCICOCITY GRADE BITUMEN (Asphalt ) HAVE TWO METHODS OF GRADING

Standard Viscosity Grade Bitumen (AC-Grades), in which the Viscosity of the standard bitumen (asphalt) is measured at 60 ºC (140 ºF).

RTFOT Viscosity Grade Bitumen (AR-Grades), in which the Viscosity of bitumen (asphalt) is measured at 60 °C (140 °F) after the roll on thin film oven test.

Viscosity bitumen has a thermoplastic feature which causes the material to soften at high temperatures and to harden at lower temperatures. This temperature viscosity relevance is significant when specifying the performance parameters such as the adhesion, rheology, durability and application temperatures of bitumen. In the Viscosity Grade Bitumen specifications, the most important emphasize is based on the Bitumen ductility.

VISCOSITY GRADE BITUMEN USES :

VG-10 BITUMEN

VG-10 is mostly used in spraying applications such as surface dressing and Paving in very cold climate instead of 80/100 penetration bitumen grade. It is also used to produce Bitumen Emulsion and Modified Bitumen products.

VG-30 BITUMEN

VG-30 is especially used to construct extra heavy duty Bitumen pavements that need to tolerate significant traffic loads. It can be used instead of 60/70 penetration bitumen grade.

VG-40 BITUMEN

VG-40 is used in highly stressed areas such as intersections, near toll booths and truck parking lots instead of 30/40 penetration grade. Because of higher viscosity, stiffer Bitumen mixes can be produced to amend resistance to shoving and other problems related to higher temperature and heavy traffic loads.
